TOGETHER WE LEARN-TOGETHER WE STOP DISCRIMINATION

The training ‘Together we learn – Together we stop discrimination’ is based on the Train-the-Trainer Programme of the EPTO. It is designed to raise youth leaders’ awareness about issues related to diversity, inter-culturalism and anti-discrimination, and to empower them to confront all kinds of discrimination through peer education. The programme model used by EPTO is based on the Anti-Defamation League’s A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE® and Learning for Well-Being methodologies. It aims to help youth to: Be aware of their personal and cultural identity; Recognize their own prejudices and stereotypes; Recognize and confront prejudice and discrimination in all forms; Develop empathy, critical thinking, and communication skills; Create inclusive environments; Develop an action plan to fight against all kinds of discrimination.

For whom: The training is co-organised with 4motion, EPTO Nederland and partner organisations from 6 countries (Belgium, Slovenia, Poland, Romania(also Dunare.EDU), Estonia, Germany). We expect to have 25 participants. The training will be in 2 parts: a first 5-days awareness training will take in Luxembourg from November, 24th to November, 29th 2013 and a second 3–days training aiming at developing the facilitation skills and planning quality peer training will take place in The Netherlands in February 2014 (dates to be confirmed).

How: The training will be include interactive and experiential activities, rooted in the principles of intercultural learning, where participants are asked to share experiences and opinions, to practice active listening skills with others, and to learn emotionally, physically as well as intellectually.
